Trojans Win!
Well considering they were play off contenders when I went to school there I have always expected great things from the Trojans. Then being at a few games in the 2000 they have crushed our hearts. So last night when it was the 4th quarter and they were behind 6-3 with 3:14 left in the game I was thinking NO they have got to turn around this loosing streak, they have not won a game since 1999. They have had at least 3 coaches since then. One who was a class mate of DH, whose dad was great friends with dh's dad, and our teacher in Jr. high. The current coach was my in car driver ed teacher back when I was a student there. Some of the crowd was leaving. There attendance was better than the last time, we went to the homecoming game, two years ago. Both teams has a side line (players), neither did last time were were in Waterloo. Yet with 2:10 left in the game and bobbled play. We were down to 2:04 left in the game. Dh had just said some thing about needing a a BIG play or two, I agreed. They dropped back to pass the ball. We were yelling no RUN. He found the lane and made the 82 yard run down the side line. Touch down! They missed the point after touchdown but the Trojans were ahead 9-6. The crowd became electric with that run and stood until the end of the game. The band was gone. Oh well, the cheer leaders did the school song any way! E-A-S-T H-I-G-H! They have a neat new mascot costume too. Trojans win! Yeah! We were sitting on the Trojans side of course.
The Trojans play the Whalert Golden Eagles next week in the Loras Rock Bowl. My hopes are high.
Of course it was a bitter sweet kind of lost for the Ram’s, our son's school. They have a win over the big in city rival Whalert this year. City Champs last year and wins over the Trojans most years we have been to the game, we did go when DH was on school board back in the '90's as well to many games since graduating. Dh made some comment about it being obvious the Ram’s were the better team on the way home.
Dad said the Trojans won for him, it was his birthday after all. He did not even grow up in this state, he must have just adopted them because we three children went there. I do know he has adopted the Hawkeye's, and UNI Panther’s. The Panther’s makes a little more sense as he did go to school there while laid off from John Deere while I was growing up, really the Hawkeye's does to, if you live in this state and follow sports the Hawkeye’s really are the biggest team around.
Better get busy on my bag for the Tote exchange.
Sorry no pictures today.
